Welcome to something new, friends.
LOCAL Community News is introducing a slate of bloggers offering unique insights on parenting, beer, wine and local news for the enjoyment of our growing online audience.
The blogs are only on the website and will not run in LOCAL’s four printed community newspapers.
Our goal is to post fresh columns every week here at www.localcommunitynews.com.
I’m hoping readers will feel free to share them. And don’t be bashful — send us comments. You can reach me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
As many of you know, blog comes from “weblog,” but I just like to think of these as chatty conversations between writers and their neighbors.
We’re very excited about our contributors.
Olivier J. Bourgoin, also known as “The Wine Guy,” will be sharing his tips on all things vino, from new wines to food pairings, industry updates and more.
Olivier is a pretty incredible fellow. Many will recognize his name from the business stories he writes for our print products, but did you know he’s a native of France and plays hockey?
Former television reporter and public-relations specialist Gina Galaviz Eisenberg will be detailing the joys and sometimes the hurdles of rearing kids.
I’m looking forward to Gina’s musings. Back when I worked as a police reporter for the San Antonio Express-News, Gina was always rushing to the same crime scenes for her television station — and often beating me. In addition to being a superb journalist, she’s also a great mommy.
Travis E. Poling, a veteran business writer, beer expert and Texas-beer-industry author, opens the proverbial tap on what’s good to pour in a glass, the latest goings-on in the craft-beer market, and emerging legislation that has an impact on brewers.
Travis and I go back years, including working together at the Express-News. He’s also no stranger to LOCAL; he was our first editor and continues to write stories for the papers.
After a long hiatus in print, I’m bringing back my column, “From the Editor.” I’ll be giving readers my take on area news and politics, and you know I can’t stay away from offering my opinions on the current state of journalism.
Our plan for the future is to introduce more blogs covering a variety of issues that have relevance to the lives, dreams and hopes of our audience.
Look for offerings on foods and superb meals, sports and even great coffees and teas.
Our goal is to entertain, inform and enlighten our readers.
Communication is a two-way street. Drop me a line and let me know how we’re doing, plus feel free to suggest your ideas for blogging subjects.
