With their eighth Sweet Paris Crêperie & Café, married couple Ivan and Allison Young Chavez brought The City of Lights to The Alamo City.
“What we say is, ‘Come to Sweet Paris, no passport needed,’” Young Chavez said. “We really want people to feel with the music, food, interior design and the ambiance that you know you really are going into a European bistro.”
The Houston native oversees new-location development and aids with marketing and branding, while her husband is the concept creator, contributing to restaurant design, venue scouting and team building.
Sweet Paris debuted in June at 15900 La Cantera Parkway, Suite 19160, featuring “Texas-size crêpes.”
After graduating, the college sweethearts traveled internationally, deciding nearly a decade ago to open a French café.
Sweet and savory crêpes, such as dulce de leche with banana and chicken carbonara, are offered, alongside gluten-free and vegan-batter options.
“A lot of our menu is Italian inspired,” Young Chavez said. “We have a chicken carbonara, alfredo, but then we have a Mexican breakfast crêpe which has jalapeño, salsa and carnita (pork). So, there’s a lot of international flavors that are expressed on the menu.”
Other items include salads, paninis, waffles and soups. There’s wine and beer, too.
The community-oriented owners partner with local food banks to target childhood hunger. For every crêpe sold from the food-bank menu, one meal is donated.
“We’re thrilled to be in San Antonio. We just think that people are really going to enjoy it and we’re excited to welcome everyone,” Chavez said.
Hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
