Two brothers say they are bringing the “fresh-Mex” concept to the North Side with their new burrito eatery, Überrito.

Aniq and Ally Lakhpaty, who also own several Subway franchises in San Antonio, opened Überrito Oct. 15 at 5238 De Zavala Road, Suite 114, in the Fiesta Trails shopping center. It’s the first of many for the duo, as they plan to establish more in the Alamo City, Austin and Houston.

The company, formerly known as Mission Burrito, was founded in 1995 in Houston. Franchising began in 2017.

“When we visited Überrito, just the taste and the flavor and food and look just sold us. Honestly, since I was a graduate of culinary school, taste is the number one thing,” Aniq Lakhpaty said.

Customers build their own burrito, bowl, salad or nachos. Choices include eight proteins, four types of tortillas, over 20 toppings and eight salsas.

“We just offer more variety and we feel that we offer a fresher product. We don’t want to limit anyone to anything, really,” Lakhpaty said.

Toppings and salsas are made fresh daily. Queso and guacamole cost extra.

“We have an open kitchen, so no prep work is done in the back. Anything that customers eat is all made in the front where you can actually see it,” Lakhpaty said. “We just wanted to keep it open and a very clean environment.”

Tacos are also available, and the Diablo Shrimp and Chicken Cheesy keep customers coming back for more, he added.

Delivery through DoorDash is available and online orders soon will be available on the restaurant’s website.

Hours are 10:45 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 10:45 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.
