After five years in the CBD industry, Charles Rodkey and wife Meggie decided to debut their own company, Rodkeys.
“He (husband) opened a business to follow a vision. … He saw a need for it and he brought it to life,” Meggie Rodkey said.
Cannabidiol, or CBD, is the non-psychoactive part of the hemp plant.
Charles Rodkey opened a separate Stone Oak CBD store in 2017 with two partners, then parted ways a year later.
Rodkeys debuted in May at 2602 N. Loop 1604 West, Suite 109. A second shop is planned at 9630 Huebner Road, Suite 101.
“We’re not like a huge big corporation or anything, but everything has been carefully thought of, the way we are trying to guide people through the store and to the right product,” Charles Rodkey said.
Offerings include tinctures, edibles, topicals, water solubles, beauty products, items for pets, coffee, tea and sports nutrition. Purchases can only be made by those 18 and older.
Customers can use an iPad to browse products, have a consultation and test items at the sampling bar.
“The reason I started retailing was all about education and to break down the barriers that a lot of people have about cannabis,” Rodkey said.
CBD is used to treat anxiety, pain, stress and more, according to the owners.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
