In a city filled with south-of-the-border eateries, CoCo Bongo Cocina & Bar takes its fare to new heights, according to staffers.
“We tried to do something more different and more elevated for the classy people that live around this area,” said bar manager Jorge Garcia.
The business debuted in March at 18740 Stone Oak Parkway.
The restaurant is owned by four partners who wanted to create a dining spot with a fun, tropical vibe.
“The atmosphere is more relaxing throughout lunch, and definitely a more fine-dining experience at dinner,” Garcia said.
Popular items include fajitas, enchiladas and pollo vino verde, which is chicken with poblano cream, queso fresco, spinach, fried cumin and cilantro rice.
“The menu is a nice variation between Mexican cuisine and some Tex-Mex and American influences as well,” Garcia said.
Other selections include steaks, tacos, seafood, plus quesadillas and burritos cooked in a brick oven. There’s also a kids’ menu.
Everything is fresh, Garcia added.
Brunch, served on weekends, features migas, huevos rancheros and more. A deejay plays electronic music on Sundays.
“We definitely wanted to target the more family-oriented crowd, give them an option of somewhere to go after their Sunday service at church,” Garcia said.
Signature drinks are available, including several margarita choices.
Happy hour is 3-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, with well drinks, house margaritas and draft beer on special.
Enjoy live music Friday and Saturday evenings.
Hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday.
