Smile Workshop aims to make patients comfortable

UNIVERSAL CITY — At the new Smile Workshop, staffers want to offer top-notch dental care and orthodontics to keep patrons returning for life, according to the company.

“We understand that coming to the dentist can be a little bit scary, but we try to make our customers feel (as) comfortable as possible,” said spokeswoman Charlene Nyhart.

The practice recently opened at 520 Kitty Hawk Road, Suite 130.

Amarillo native Dr. Christopher Swayden is the founder and owner of Smile Workshop. He’s been a dentist since 2004.

The decade-old business has offices statewide including San Antonio, Amarillo, Dallas and Forth Worth.

“We try to eliminate the hassles of finding different dentists for everyone in the family. We are accessible to many different demographics,” Nyhart said.

The family-friendly dentistry provides services for 6-month-olds to adults. Offerings include preventive care and removal of wisdom teeth, plus veneers and braces.

Patients waiting to be seen can enjoy amenities ranging from a coffee bar to a children’s play area and more.

During regular checkups and procedures, patrons can even watch televisions mounted on ceilings.

Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome. Medicaid and most insurance accepted, according to the business’ website.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday and Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, by appointment only on Friday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
