Blvd Bar & Lounge is a new entertainment spot on the North Side where customers get to enjoy the nightlife in two very different ways, staffers said.
The experience includes a dance floor that comes alive on the weekend in a room decorated with replicas of hundreds of gold skulls.
The drink-and-dancing establishment, which opened in late fall, is at 5138 UTSA Boulevard on the corner with Vance Jackson Road.
“You can go into any bar and get a vodka soda, but we are selling experience,” said owner Terrin Fuhrmann. “The demographic of this area is really important. We wanted to offer a ‘low-key’ neighborhood vibe during the week and high energy during the weekend.”
On weekdays, customers use the front of the bar to enjoy live music and craft beverages, while a patio lets them spend time outdoors. The area is decorated with wood accents and bookshelves to create a social atmosphere, staffers said.
On the weekends, customers enter The Gold Room. The venue is accented with a black-and-gold theme that includes back walls covered by the skulls. A high-tech chandelier hanging above the dance floor provides visual effects.
“A lot of customers assume that we are just a college bar, but we wanted to create something for the young professional and the older crowd,” Fuhrmann said.
Hours are 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. Tuesday through Friday, 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday, and 5 p.m. to midnight Sunday.
