BRIAN GOTTARDY, SUPERINTENDENT OF THE NORTH EAST INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT, RECENTLY announced he is retiring at the end of June. Gottardy has been superintendent since 2011. During his tenure, NEISD passed two successful bond programs in 2011 and 2015, with a focus on equity and renovation of older schools, officials said. NEISD also underwent an extensive strategic planning process to find out what parents and community members value most in the schools. “It has been an honor and a privilege to be the superintendent of NEISD. Eight years ago, I was humbled and very proud about being the next superintendent of NEISD. The district will forever hold a very special place in my heart,” Gottardy said in a statement.
