CIBOLO — It’s a snap to have fun at Alligator Dental, a pediatric oral-care center where staffers say they go the extra mile to make every visit enjoyable for children.
Amenities include a projector gaming system, arcade, movie theater and outdoor activities.
Services are also offered for special-needs children and adults.
“We all just strive to make going to the dentist fun for kiddos,” said manager Carmen Ainsley.
Alligator Dental opened in December at 112 Gulf St. as the third clinic owned by Dr. Alfred “Al” Burns; others are in San Marcos and Seguin.
Burns has a passion for kids and has seven children, Ainsley said.
Dr. Poonam Shah also practices at Alligator Dental.
“She really has a great connection with kids, you can tell. She’s just very fun loving, very fun and engaging with the kids,” Ainsley said.
Together, the duo has more than a decade of experience.
Catering to dental and entertainment needs for those 6 months to 18 years old, the office features different areas arranged by age.
Services include preventive, restorative and emergency care, with individualized approaches for special-needs patients.
“Special needs is kind of a ‘heart-tugger’ for us because you see parents that come in that have been referred to this place,” Ainsley said. “They just want some place to accept (their offspring) and take care of them, and so we’re here to do that.”
Educating through presentations and instruction is also key.
“We want to be a team with the parents as to what’s in the best interest of the child,” she added.
Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
