UT Health Hill Country, just off Interstate 10 West near Fair Oaks Ranch, is accepting patients after celebrating a dedication and ribbon-cutting Feb. 22.

The 19,000-square-foot clinical service center at 25723 Old Fredericksburg Road features primary care, orthopedics, radiology, physical therapy, urology, behavioral health and lab services.

The new building is also close to Leon Springs, The Dominion, other far North Side communities and Boerne.

UT Health Hill Country is a sophisticated operation where folks can receive superior care without traveling far, said William L. Henrich, president of UT Health San Antonio (formerly the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio).

He added the clinic represents a movement away from having academic medical facilities anchored solely in a city setting.

“We’ve been responsive to the notion that you have to take your services away from the academic health center, from the urban, inner-city locations out to make them more convenient,” Henrich said. “We hope this is just the beginning, we’re hoping we can do this more and more around (San Antonio) as our practice becomes more of a destination.”

Neighborhood leaders along the I-10 West corridor attended the event.

Alamo Architects designed the building and Bartlett Cocke General Contractors built the center, which includes waiting, exam and conference rooms; physician offices, a full-service imaging center with MRI, CT scan technology and general X-ray facilities.

Henrich said a lot of “sweat equity” went into the effort, adding the clinic would not have been possible without the help of the University of Texas System.

The center has links to hundreds of physicians and specialists.

“Our ultimate goal is to make life better. We are delighted to be here at this location, UT Health Hill Country, to make lives better in this region,” said Carlos Rosende, an ophthalmologist and executive director of physicians for UT Health San Antonio.
