Medical staff at a new emergency center on the far North Side aim to care for infirm folks as if they are kin, a spokeswoman said.
My Emergency Room 24/7, an always-open, freestanding medical facility, remedies a variety of ailments at 5431 N. Loop 1604 West, next to Topgolf.
“It’s physician-owned, so they (doctors) have a very vested interest in treating their patients like they would want their family to be treated,” said business administrator Casandra Harrington. “We’re very much about personalized attention, personalized care.”
The first location — San Marcos — debuted in 2014; the San Antonio site launched last fall. A third is planned late summer for Abilene, followed by Boerne early next year.
Harrington said the center’s mission is to “provide a comfortable and pleasant experience that is unsurpassed.”
This alternative to hospital emergency rooms offers similar services such as a crash cart with a defibrillator, an orthopedic cart for fractures and a sutures cart. Personnel take care of everything from sore throats to broken bones.
The facility contains seven exam rooms including a trauma space, observation area and in-house pharmacy.
An ER-experienced physician and registered nurse are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Dr. John Turner, the clinic director, has one goal —to help patients feel better than when they arrived.
“You’re in the driver’s seat here. We have the time to dedicate that you don’t have in a hospital setting,” Turner said.
My Emergency Room 24/7 accepts most private insurers and Tricare. Uninsured patients may receive cash discounts.
