Ruth and Nick Gonzalez spent their date nights at LA Crawfish in Alamo Ranch. They loved it so much the couple opened a Stone Oak franchise.

Cajun and Vietnamese flavors unite at the seafood restaurant at 22502 U.S. 281 North, Suite 110, where customers enjoy mudbugs year-round.

“We tried probably everything on the menu and we liked all of it,” Ruth Gonzalez said. “So, we had it in the back of our mind: ‘This is some nice food.’ The thing that brought us to LA Crawfish is taste.”

Gonzalez previously worked in the restaurant business, mostly fast food, but spent the last few years as a financial adviser. She always wanted to return to the food-service industry, though.

LA Crawfish opened Nov. 11 in the Village at Stone Oak shopping center.

“We wanted to be where it’s going to grow with the location, and the people are really nice,” Gonzalez said.

According to the company website, featured items include boiled crawfish, shrimp, crabs, seafood po’boys, traditional and fusion pho bowls, fresh oysters, a crawfish pho, Asian-boiled crawfish with garlic butter, and chicken wings in several flavors.

“Every food that you taste on the menu just has explosive flavor — that’s what we’re known for,” said T. Pham, regional developer for the San Antonio market.

The eatery is casual and family-friendly, with picnic tables, Pham said.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday.
