All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.  And everyone in San Antonio knows the cure for dull is throwing a party — for charity, of course.

The fun began when Liecie and Nick Hollis opened their gorgeous Terrell Hills mansion to benefit the San Antonio Public Library Foundation and drop it like it’s “Yacht Rock.”

It was all aboard for poolside drinks from Cinco Vodka, Seersucker Southern Style Gin and Alamo Beer Co.; boat races; a karaoke challenge; yacht bingo; and delicious food from Fork and Garden catering. Guests dressed in their nautical best. Everyone discovered the generation gap when the younger partygoers did not understand they were attired like Thurston Howell III, because they never heard of “Gilligan’s Island.”

The Chair-ity Gala benefitting Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Antonio brought out the kid in everyone at Old San Francisco Steak House. KABB’s “Daytime@9” star Kimberly Crawford served as mistress of ceremonies for this fun and festive evening sponsored by Tri Delta sorority.

Partygoers enjoyed “clowning around” with Ronald himself. They also bid on unique, one-of-a-kind chairs and furnishings from community partners, businesses, artists and designers. The enjoyable evening of dining and entertainment featured C-Rock Band and Rusty Nails.
