Hold on to your hats because this social season featured a hat trick of haberdashery, with everything from fashionable fedoras and raucous royals to polo ponies.

Polo teams representing Fiesta royalty including El Rey Feo Fred Reyes and King Antonio Michael Casillas competed for the Fiesta Kings Cup, hosted by the San Antonio Polo Club.

Galloping on, local blue bloods threw their hats in the Fiesta ring and spent the afternoon in Olmos Basin sporting stylish chapeaux, stomping divots between chukkas and savoring a gourmet cocktail lunch under a beautifully appointed tent.

The ladies-who-lunch spent “A Day at the Races” and the outrageous hats were off (or on) for the annual Brunch des Chapeaux benefitting the Autism Community Network. Galericulated gals Kati Smith, Shalimar Wallis and Edie Wright served as chairwomen who, along with the always-fabulous runway magic of Julian Gold, entertained a sold-out crowd on the lawn of The Argyle.

Heavy is the head that wears the crown —unless it’s during Fiesta, of course. Kings, queens, duchesses and the folk of Terrell Hills gathered on the lawn of Nancy and Edward Steves’ magnificent home for the annual Texas Cavaliers’ Kings Party featuring food, fun and frolicking.

That afternoon, many margaritas made merry men mad as hatters and just as jolly.
