Investing in a good bra is just as important as investing in a good pair of shoes, says Lisa Curbello, owner of The Bra Chick.
The shop, located at 555 W. Bitters Road, Suite 103 in the Alley on Bitters, opened in March. The first debuted in 2015 at 105 E. San Antonio Drive in Boerne.
The store specializes in bras, including certain brands unique to bra boutiques, and offers sizes ranging from A to O.
“We take the fuss out of bra shopping,” Curbello said.
Curbello, who has worked in the bra business for 23 years, said she doesn’t even have to measure her customers anymore to know what size they need.
After taking time off to raise three boys, Curbello wanted to return to retail work. Her husband referred to her as “the bra chick” one night, and his words inspired Curbello to open a store with that very name.
“What sets The Bra Chick apart from department stores is the sizes and styles. We pick up where they leave off,” Curbello said.
Fitters at The Bra Chick are trained to look at certain points on a woman to determine the correct bra size without using measuring tape.
“When a woman goes into that fitting room, it’s more like we try to educate them and bring awareness to wearing the proper bras for breast health,” Curbello said.
The Bra Chick’s offerings include everyday bras, sports bras, wire-free, teen bras and lingerie. It hosts parties for women’s groups and holds fundraisers as well.
“I thought I would never do this again, but I like helping women. I like making women feel good about themselves, and it’s amazing what a bra can do. We empower women daily,” Curbello said.
