The Boulevardier Group refused to throw in the bar towel when Stay Golden Social House was bulldozed for high-rise offices on Broadway.
Still Golden Social House is the newest iteration of the neighborhood watering hole owned by the group. The spot was first known as Golden Gloves Social House and Boozeteria and debuted in 2014.
The new place opened March 3 at 1900 Broadway on the corner of East Grayson Street.
“We’re still close enough that all of our regulars can take the extra five-minute walk to get over here,” said general manager Stephan Mendez.
The new bar’s larger indoor space and outdoor patio allow for less crowding, he added. There is also an arcade room in the back.
“We can carry a bigger selection, and the bartenders don’t have to go running back and forth to make a drink. Nobody likes waiting for drinks. The faster you can get them out, the better,” he said.
Still Golden offers a variety of cocktails as well as wine and several Texas craft beers on draft.
“I call it a ‘hybrid bar.’ You can get a Jägerbomb, or you can get a Sazerac or an old fashioned. It’s a little bit of everything without putting a big focus on just craft drinks,” Mendez said.
The menu uses seasonal ingredients and features plenty of cocktails to beat the heat, such as Tropic Like It’s Hot, a concoction of Nicaraguan and coconut rums, coconut water and lime.
The bar uses fresh fruit juice in all libations.
“We want people to know that anyone can come in here and get pretty much whatever they want. We don’t have a list of house rules. No cover. We aren’t going to turn anyone away for ordering a Cosmo,” Mendez said.
Hours are 3 p.m. to 2 a.m Monday through Friday and noon to 2 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.
