IN JUNE, METHODIST STONE OAK HOSPITAL ANNOUNCED A $28 MILLION EXPANSION for its women’s services division. The facility will offer more space for new mothers and newborns, officials said. The upgrade is in response to the rising demand for health care services on the rapidly growing far North Side. Methodist also welcomes former Spur Sean Elliott and Claudia Zapata-Elliott, a registered dietitian nutritionist, to the team. Sean Elliott received his kidney transplant in 1999 at Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital. Methodist Stone Oak Hospital opened in 2009 and employs nearly 1,000 people. The system handles 12,000 inpatients annually and 8,000 others for outpatient services.
