The head coach and partner of OnePlus Strength & Conditioning/OnePlus CrossFit is passionate about educating the community on health and fitness.
Lufe Torres came to the United States six years ago after meeting his wife in Chile, where she was studying abroad. His coastal town, Viña del Mar, had a much different culture when it came to exercise, Torres said.
“Working out was not a concept. Working out was just life,” Torres said.
OnePlus Strength & Conditioning, 1035 Austin Highway, opened last December. The name represents a philosophy of one person coming to the fitness center, getting trained and spreading that knowledge to friends and family — sort of like a domino effect, Torres said.
Torres was a Chilean military officer and studied a range of sports including karate and Brazilian jiu-jitsu. He has more than a dozen years of experience in the fitness industry.
“I’m doing this because of the passion I have, because I like what I do,” Torres said.
OnePlus offers personal training, an open gym for more experienced members, classes for children, lifting sessions and CrossFit. Patrons select their level of membership based on the number of classes they want to take and their level of experience.
Not only is Torres focused on helping patrons become more physically fit, he and the other coaches also want the training to yield benefits in all aspects of the clients’ lives.
“At the end of the day, you don’t want to waste your time. I want to make results,” Torres said.
All skill levels and ages are welcome at OnePlus.
“I really believe this can be something powerful,” Torres said.
OnePlus offers student, military and first-responder discounts.
Hours are 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday. The class schedule is available to view online.
