TROOP 809 OF THE ALAMO AREA COUNCIL ADVANCED 13 BOY SCOUTS to Eagle Scout, the organization’s highest rank; it is achieved by only 4 percent of all Scouts nationwide, a spokeswoman said. Scoutmaster Adam Pittman recognized each Scout at a Court of Honor ceremony May 6. Retired Air Force Gen. William M. Fraser III was the special guest speaker. The honorees are Guy Chipman IV, Michael Colvard, Matthew Giddens, Ben Andrews, John “Jack” Williams, John Miller, Michael Thomas Morell, Wendell Snow, Kevin Collins, Billy Conn and George Judson, all from from Alamo Heights High School; Luke Powers of Saint Mary’s Hall; and Harold Gottsacker IV, International Connections Academy. More than 1,800 service hours were completed by the Scouts during their individual service projects to benefit the community; combined, they earned 323 merit badges; and five are now members of the Order of the Arrow, Boy Scouts’ National Honor Society.
